Tellurium is a silvery shiny non-metal.
It was first found in 1782 in the gold-bearing ores of Transylvania by the mountain Inspector Franz Josef Müller, on the territory of Austria-Hungary. In 1798 Martin Heinrich Klaproth isolated tellurium and defined its most important properties. Tellurium is one of the rarest elements. This metal is used in the manufacture of many different alloys (copper, lead, iron), so the metallurgy industry is its main consumer. Tellurium makes stainless steel and copper more workable. Also adding this element to ductile iron gives it the positive properties of gray iron.
