Chrome - bluish-white hard metal. Chromium is sometimes referred to as ferrous metals. Chromium was discovered in 1797 by L. N. Vauquelin in the mineral crocoite, a natural lead chromate. Chrome got its name from the Greek word chroma - color, paint (because of the variety of colors of its compounds). Independently of Vauquelin, Chrome was discovered in crocoite in 1798 by the German scientist M. G. Klaproth.
The largest chromium deposits are located in South Africa, Kazakhstan, Russia, Zimbabwe, Madagascar. There are also deposits in Turkey, India, Armenia, Brazil, the Philippines.
