Chromium is sometimes referred to as ferrous metals. Chromium was discovered in 1797 by L. N. Vauquelin in the mineral crocoite, a natural lead chromate. Chrome got its name from the Greek word chroma - color, paint (because of the variety of colors of its compounds). Independently of Vauquelin, Chrome was discovered in crocoite in 1798 by the German scientist M. G. Klaproth. </div> <div> The largest chromium deposits are located in South Africa, Kazakhstan, Russia, Zimbabwe, Madagascar. There are also deposits in Turkey, India, Armenia, Brazil, the Philippines. </div>
